FAQs

This is the future portal for signing up, renewing and getting information about GACG wifi. Right now it is in test mode, if you like it, and the board approves, we can have great internet, when we want it,  at a very low cost.

Thank you for visiting. I am a semi-retired network engineer. With the approval of the park, I believe we can provide good wireless internet access to everyone, at a low cost. This project has no support from the park at this time, I am building. funding, and testing on my own. Because of this, testing will be slow, but steady.  Right now the system is in operation at my trailer, located at 30 Horseshoe.

If there is sufficient interest, and the Board has approves, The cost will be $15 per month, OR $120 a full year, for 50 mbps or better access. Modems are currently $20.

What would be needed from GACG? ( “the park’s permission”) The single accesspoint can be deployed at the works shed, on Oriole. It will require a 35 foot “TV” type tower, to ensure coverage. A fast Internet connection ( 1.5gbs) from Rogers, installed at the works shed. As well as electricity to run. I would be making the investment in materials, labour, and tech savvy, I am only interested in recovering my investment, I can continue to operate the system, or if it is in the interest of the park, they can. Profit can be split, or other arrangements can be made. People with experience, or who would like to learn, any required field are welcome to volunteer. If there are any ideas of fundraising, they are welcome.

Some techno-babble. I am using a NEW technology, for those interested in the tech details, it is called CBRS, or Private LTE. It uses Cellular technology, on a licence-free band. ( B48) It will require a router in your trailer, which will also provide wifi. The service is currently running on my 30 mbps connection, so it maybe slow at times, and I may need to limit access for my work.
